Professional training for the members of the Slovene Professional Turist Guides Club and other interested tourist guides
On September 11 and 12 the Škocjan Caves Park carried out a training for the members of the Slovene Professional Turist Guides Club and other interested tourist guides.
The training is part of the planned professional presentations of international designations UNESCO, MAB and Ramsar to tourist workers in Slovenia. The presentation of a protected area from the viewpoint of learning and protecting nature and cultural heritage as well as the potential of the development of sustainable tourism, is the starting point for the beginning of active collaboration with stakeholders and turist activities operators in the UNESCO Karst (and Reka River Basin) Biosphere Reserve.
We presented the park and the possibilities that the wider area offers to 14 turist guides from whole of Slovenia. Beside professional knowledge and new information that we succeeded to deliver, the established connections between the service providers in the surrounding of Škocjan Caves and successful turist guides in Slovenia is of great importance.
The co-workers of the training this time were: Mahnič Restaurant Škocjan Caves, Homestead Belajevi, Homestead Vrbin, Tourist farm Pr’Betanci, Fruit farm Biščak, Turist Information Centre Ilirska Bistrica, Koper Regional Museum – Prem unit, Development Centre Divača, Gregor Žiberna Speleological Society Divača, Museum of Slovene Film Actors, Turistic, Cultural and Sports Society Urbanščica, Village Community Suhorje, Local Community Ostrožno Brdo, Turn Castle and Rihard Baša.
In the year of sustainable tourism, this is our contribution towards the fulfilment of long-term initiatives for good results and collaboration between stakeholders and protected area management.
In the future we anticipate the collaboration with other providers as well in the upgrade of this kind of training programs.
