Notice on the implementation of the new Nature Conservation Act

Škocjan Caves are the first natural monument in Slovenia to be inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, thereby being recognized as an exceptional natural asset of universal value – a heritage of all humankind, intended for both present and future generations.

At Škocjan Caves Park, we welcome the initiative of the new Nature Conservation Act, which stipulates that natural heritage sites are accessible to everyone free of charge on the first Sunday of each month. At the same time, we particularly emphasize the importance of curious yet respectful visitation, as only through a responsible attitude can we ensure that these exceptional natural assets remain accessible and preserved for future generations.

Škocjan Caves are open every day in accordance with the published schedule. A ticket is required for visits, as this is the only way to ensure a safe and high-quality experience that protects the outstanding natural value while enabling visitors to enjoy an in-depth experience of this World Heritage site.

Free visits will be introduced as soon as this is technically feasible and once the appropriate secondary legislation has been adopted. We thank you for your understanding and patience.
