Focus Groups - Ecosystem Services
As part of the ReNature project, we mapped ecosystem services and evaluated which are the most important gifts that nature gives us in the Karst Biosphere Reserve and the Reka River Basin and the Seasonal Lakes of Pivka Nature Park
We organized several workshops on the topic of ecosystem services. One of the workshops was titled "Nature's Gifts" in the Škocjan Caves Park, where Dr. Anže Japelj from the Slovenian Forestry Institute presented the concept of identifying, assessing, and mapping ecosystem services in environmentally important areas in Slovenia, carried out under the NatGuid ES project. It is essential in the research to develop various indicators to map and assess ecosystem services.
In the evaluation research of ecosystem services in the Karst Biosphere Reserve, we are using a participatory approach to assess ecosystem services and evaluate natural assets. We organized a series of workshops with local stakeholders, institutions, and organizations operating in the Karst Biosphere Reserve. The acquired data will be analyzed and incorporated into a Management Model, which will also include guidelines for wetland and grassland restoration.
