Big Waters

Today is a very special day for us in the park.

At five o clock in the morning the biggest discharge of the river Reka was measured at the hydrological station Cerkvenikov mlin. It reached 225 m3/s, while the river was 563 cm high. Due to a large amount of rainfall (during the past day and night it reached 93,5 mm) in the morning the water in the Šumeča Cave rose till app. 25 m high and flooded the lower part of the tourist trail as well as filled up the famous limestone pools.

The power of the water which intertwines with the beauty of the local karstic world, enchanted us all.
